Eligibility Requirements for Manitoba International Student Entrepreneur Pilot
1. Education
You must have finished a full-time post-secondary program from any recognized institute in Manitoba. The duration will be at least 2 years. Correspondence courses or distance learning programs are not considered a legitimate education for this program.
2. Age
You must be between 21 to 35 years of age.
3. Business Experience
You must have a detailed business plan and have at least 51% ownership equity in your business. Furthermore, you must have operated the business as senior management for at least 6 months before nomination. According to your Business Performance Agreement (BPA), you also must have a valid Canadian work permit.
4. Adaptability
As mentioned before, you must have a valid Canadian work permit. In addition, you must have lived in Manitoba since graduation. Your intent should be clear and you must demonstrate with your plan that you will continue to live in the province after nomination.
5. Settlement Fund
No deposit is required for eligibility assessment. Your net worth is the key metric, while settlement funds are considered to evaluate your ability to implement your business plan and sustain your living in the province. Note that non-liquid assets, such as real estate, jewelry, bonds, etc., are not counted as liquid funds.
Requirements:
- Equivalent funds to meet low-income cut-off (LICO) requirements.
- A third-party supplier recognized by MPNP will verify the liquid funds.
- After receiving your Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), you have 120 days to submit your verification report.
6. Business Performance
If your application is approved, you will have to sign a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) before the MPNP issuing you an approval-in-principle letter to start your business.
How to Apply for International Student Entrepreneur Pilot (ISEP)?
Step 1: Preliminary Assessment
To initiate your journey with the International Student Entrepreneur Pilot (ISEP) program, start by conducting an objective self-assessment. Ensure you meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Then, submit the Interest Guideline Form.
Step 2: Research and Preparation
- Explore Manitoba’s business environment.
- Attend a mandatory ISEP information session at MPNP. Register by emailing MPNP-BusinessStream@gov.mb.ca.
- Complete the Business Concept Form.
Step 3: Submission and Evaluation
After the information session, submit three forms:
- Detailed business concept in Manitoba
- Interest Guideline Form
- If applicable, Code of Conduct for Immigration Representatives.
If your forms are acceptable, you’ll be notified by email. Ensure accurate form completion, as submitting the Interest Guideline and Business Concept forms is considered your application to MPNP.
Step 4: Application Submission
- Upon receiving a Letter of Advice (LAA) to the ISEP, submit your comprehensive application to MPNP within the specified timeframe.
- MPNP may verify your liquid funds and financial information through a designated third-party service provider.
- Submit federal and provincial forms via email; paper submissions are not accepted.
- Pay the $2,500 fee with your application.
Step 5: Evaluation and Approval
- MPNP will assess your application, including an interview.
- If all documentation is in order, MPNP will email an approval letter.
- Sign the ISEP-Business Performance Agreement (BPA) before approval to proceed with your business plan.
Step 6: Business Implementation
- Upon receiving approval, commence your business activities in Manitoba.
