Eligibility Requirements for Manitoba Career Employment Pathway

1. Education

Graduation within the past three years from a designated post-secondary institution in Manitoba, completing a full-time program of at least one year/two semesters in length.

2. Language Proficiency

You must have a minimum score of CLB/NCLS 7. Language tests must have been taken within the two years before applying to the program.

3. Current Employment in Manitoba

You must contract with an employer based in Manitoba for at least a year. Also, your occupation must be full-time employment with a valid work permit. Occupation must be on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List and align with the completed program of studies in Manitoba. Must be working full-time in Manitoba with a valid work permit at the time of application assessment.

4. Settlement Fund

You must have enough liquid funds to sustain yourself in the province. The fund should be equivalent to low-income cut-off (LICO) requirements. Alternatively, be employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba.

5. Intent to Stay in Manitoba

You must demonstrate an intent to stay in Manitoba. When submitting your application, you must be living in the province. Also, it would help if you prepared a detailed plan to live and how you can contribute to the economic and social development of the community.

How to Apply for IES Career Employment Pathway?

Career Employment Pathway in Manitoba is under the Skilled Worker and International Education Stream.

  • You create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile like Skilled Worker Stream.
  • Once your profile is selected, you will be issued a Letter of Advice (LAA).
  • After receiving LAA, you must submit an accurate online application to the MPNP.
  • If your application is approved, MPNP will issue a nomination invitation to you.
  • You will get 180 days from the date of nomination to apply for Permanent Residence (PR) to the Government of Canada.

Who cannot apply to the Career Employment Pathway?

Specific individuals are not eligible to apply for the MPNP:

  • Refugee claimants or individuals involved in a federal appeal or removal process
  • Live-in Caregivers currently living in Canada
  • Temporary foreign workers currently working and residing in a province other than Manitoba
  • Spouses of Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Individuals who have been refused by the MPNP within the last six months and who are not able to address the reason(s) for refusal
  • Individuals who have an active immigration application with any other provincial immigration program or federal immigration program in Canada.

Note: an Express Entry profile is not considered an immigration application. If you or your spouse already have an active MPNP application, you are not eligible to submit an additional application to any other stream/pathway of the MPNP.
