Manitoba International Education Stream (IES) – Graduate Internship Pathway

The Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway is one of the pathways in the Manitoba International Education Stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Programme (MPNP), which is managed by the province of Manitoba. The Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway welcomes applications from overseas graduates who have recently completed a Master or PhD programme in Manitoba and a Mitacs Elevate or Accelerate internship.

Eligibility Requirements for Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway

1. Connection to Manitoba

You must have completed a post-secondary education programme leading to a Masters or Doctoral Degree from an approved Manitoba institution to be eligible for the Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway. This programme must have been completed within the last three years before applying. You must have completed either an Accelerate or Elevate Mitacs internship.

2. Language Proficiency

For this program, you must showcase your English or French proficiency consistent with the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of level 7. You must complete the language tests within the two years prior to applying to the stream.

3. Level of Education

You must have a Master degree or PhD from any recognized institute in Manitoba.

4. Settlement in Manitoba

It is crucial to show your intent to continue to live in Manitoba after the nomination. You must demonstrate a clear line in your career and your contribution toward the community in Manitoba, both social and economic contribution.

5. Settlement Fund

You must have enough liquid funds to sustain yourself in the province. The fund should be equivalent to low-income cut-off (LICO) requirements. Your assets, such as real estate, vehicles, bonds, jewellery, etc., are not considered as your settlement fund.

How to Apply for IES Graduate Internship Pathway?

Creating an Expression of Interest (EOI) Profile

  1. An EOI is not an application but an online profile.
  2. To submit an EOI, create an account on the MPNP Online portal.
  3. Once signed in, select ‘Create an Expression of Interest’ from the provided options.
  4. Your profile remains valid for one year from the day of submission.
  5. Only one active EOI is allowed at a time.

Receiving a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA)

  1. If you receive an LAA, log into your account to access the full MPNP application.
  2. You have 60 days from the LAA date to submit a complete application.
  3. The MPNP charges a non-refundable $500 application fee.

Submitting a Full Application to the MPNP

  1. Applications undergo a thorough assessment by an MPNP officer.
  2. The MPNP nominates successful applicants.
  3. Within 180 days from the nomination date, submit a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent residence for you and your family.

Who can apply for the Manitoba Graduate Internship Pathway?

  • A job offer is not mandatory at the time of application.
