BC PNP Latest Draw April 18 2023 ~ 208 Invitations

By 19 April 2023April 8th, 2024No Comments

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) conducted its latest draw on April 18, 2023, inviting nearly 208 candidates to apply for provincial nomination under Skills Immigration. This invitation round was open to candidates who have already submitted their profiles to BC PNP’s online portal.

The candidates invited in this latest draw under the Skills Immigration category were from various subcategories such as Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled, and EEBC categories. The minimum required score for each subcategory varied between 60 to 107 points based on occupation and other factors.

The BC PNP regularly conducts invitation rounds for Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories to attract and retain skilled talent in the province. General draws are typically conducted to invite eligible candidates who have registered with the BC PNP to apply for a provincial nomination. These draws do not focus on specific occupations or industries and may have higher minimum scores for factors such as the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score.

On the other hand, targeted draws are focused on specific occupations or industries that are in demand in British Columbia. These draws are designed to identify and invite skilled workers who possess the skills and experience necessary to support the province’s economic growth and development. Targeted draws may require lower SIRS scores compared to general draws, making it easier for candidates to receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination.

The province of British Columbia conducts frequently targeted draws for candidates who meet specific in-demand National Occupational Classification (NOC) standards. These draws are aimed at key sectors like technology, healthcare, and other priority occupations in the province.

Compared to general draws, targeted draws may require lower scores in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). For instance, in the latest targeted draws held this week, candidates with SIRS scores of 60 were invited to apply under each category. The targeted draws were designed for applicants in specific occupations, and the following candidates received invitations to apply:

How does BC PNP Works?

The candidates who received an invitation to apply in this latest draw have 30 days to submit their complete application along with supporting documents. The applications will be assessed based on various factors such as work experience, education, language skills, and other criteria.

The BC PNP’s online portal is open throughout the year, and the candidates can create and update their profiles to express their interest in the program. The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are then entered into the selection pool, and the highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply in the regular invitation rounds.

Overall, the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration category provides a valuable pathway for skilled and semi-skilled workers to immigrate to British Columbia and contribute to the province’s economic and social development.

BC PNP Skills Immigration Categories

The Skills Immigration category of the BC PNP is designed for skilled and semi-skilled workers who have the required qualifications, experience, and other eligibility criteria to fill the in-demand occupations in the province. The candidates who receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination can then apply for permanent residency in the federal government.

Under the Skills Immigration Stream, the BC PNP offers several categories to applicants, including:

BC PNP Skilled Worker:  This category is for individuals with post-secondary education or training and employment experience in a skilled occupation. Candidates must have a job offer from a BC employer to be eligible.

BC PNP Health Authority: This category is designed for physicians, nurses, psychiatric nurses, and allied health professionals with job offers in eligible healthcare occupations in British Columbia.

BC PNP International Graduate: This category is for individuals who have graduated from a Canadian university or college within the past three years. Candidates must have a job offer from a BC employer in a skilled occupation related to their field of study.

BC PNP International Post-Graduate: This category is for graduates who have completed a Master’s or Doctoral degree in natural, applied, or health sciences from an eligible British Columbia institution.

BC PNP Semi-Skilled: This category is for individuals who have received a job offer from a BC employer in an eligible occupation within tourism, hospitality, food processing, or long-haul trucking. Candidates must meet specific language and employment requirements to be eligible.

What is Express Entry BC Stream?

The province of British Columbia has a strong partnership with the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system, which is the federal government’s main pathway for skilled immigrants to gain permanent residency in Canada. Through this partnership, the province actively searches the Express Entry pool to identify candidates who may be eligible for one of the Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams.

The EEBC streams are a set of categories within the BC PNP program that are designed to attract skilled foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs to British Columbia. The EEBC categories include the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entrepreneur Immigration streams.

Candidates who receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency through one of these streams receive 600 additional points toward their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which greatly increases their chances of being invited to apply for permanent residency by the federal government.
