BC PNP Skills Immigration Categories

To apply under the BC PNP Skills Immigration category, candidates must first create an online profile and register with the BC PNP. The British Columbia PNP uses a points-based system to rank candidates based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in BC.

Under the Skills Immigration Stream, the BC PNP offers several categories to applicants, including:

BC PNP Skilled Worker: The Skilled Worker sub-category is for individuals with post-secondary education or training and employment experience in a skilled occupation. Candidates must have a job offer from a BC employer to be eligible.

BC PNP Health Authority: The Health Authority sub-category is designed for physicians, nurses, psychiatric nurses, and allied health professionals with job offers in eligible healthcare occupations in British Columbia.

BC PNP International Graduate: The International Graduate sub-category is for individuals who have graduated from a Canadian university or college within the past three years. Candidates must have a job offer from a BC employer in a skilled occupation related to their field of study.

BC PNP International Post-Graduate: The International Post-Graduate sub-category is for graduates who have completed a Master’s or Doctoral degree in natural, applied, or health sciences from an eligible British Columbia institution.

BC PNP Semi-Skilled: The Semi-Skilled sub-category is for individuals who have received a job offer from a BC employer in an eligible occupation within tourism, hospitality, food processing, or long-haul trucking. Candidates must meet specific language and employment requirements to be eligible.

8 Tips for Success in the BC PNP International Graduate Program

What is Express Entry BC Stream?

Express Entry BC Stream is a partnership between the province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system, which is the main route for skilled immigrants seeking permanent residency in Canada.

This partnership enables the province to identify eligible candidates from the Express Entry pool for one of the Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams. The EEBC streams are categories within the BC PNP program that aim to attract skilled foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs to British Columbia.

These streams include the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entrepreneur Immigration categories. Applicants who receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency through any of these streams obtain an additional 600 points toward their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, significantly improving their chances of being selected for permanent residency by the federal government.
