IRCC has waived off biometrics for Canada permanent resident application with effect from Sept 22, 2020, for those applicants who have submitted their biometrics earlier. This new rule will help to expedite the Canada pr process and lessen the burden on biometric centres that are starting to open after a long gap.
Biometrics are usually required for foreign nationals who are looking for a Canadian visa in work or study permit, refugee or asylum status, permanent residence etc. Canada uses biometric to verify one’s identity when they enter Canada.
