Canada Express Entry Latest Draw July 4, 2023 ~ 700 Invitations

By 4 July 2023April 8th, 2024No Comments

In the latest Express Entry draw, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 700 candidates. It was an all-program draw, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement of 511. This draw was unexpected, considering that IRCC is set to invite 1,500 healthcare workers through category-based selection the following day, July 5. The candidates from the CEC, FSWP, and FSTP programs were included in this Express Entry Latest Draw.

It is also anticipated that IRCC will conduct the first-ever category-based draw for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations. The minimum CRS score required for healthcare and STEM candidates is yet to be determined.

During the previous week’s category-based Express Entry draw on June 28, IRCC invited 500 healthcare workers with a minimum CRS score of 476. Additionally, IRCC announced its intention to invite STEM professionals through a category-based Express Entry round in the same week.

High CRS Score in Latest Express Entry Draw

The current CRS score of 511 is the highest observed in any all-program draw of 2023. It is significantly higher than the minimum score of 486 required in the last all-program draw on June 27, where 4,300 candidates were invited. Moreover, it is 35 points higher than the minimum score of 476 needed in the category-based draw on June 28.

Category-Based Express Entry

The category-based selection draws are a new feature in Express Entry that target candidates within specific occupational fields or those possessing other in-demand skills. There are six new categories eligible for consideration:

Healthcare, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions, Trades, Transport, Agriculture and Agri-food, and Strong French-language proficiency. These draws became possible after changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022, empowering the immigration minister to invite economic immigrants based on specific skills aligning with Canada’s economic priorities or promoting the French language outside of Quebec.

By implementing these new selection categories, IRCC aims to attract candidates with specific skills and experience that contribute to Canada’s economic growth.
