Latest Express Entry Pool Breakdown
As of May 29, 2024, the Express Entry Pool includes 224,404 candidates. Let’s examine the distribution of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores among these candidates:
PNP-Based Express Entry
Canada’s provinces and territories (PTs) have been actively nominating candidates through their Express Entry-aligned PNP streams. These nominations are based on the PTs’ specific economic needs and labour market demands.
Candidates who receive a provincial nomination gain an additional 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This boost significantly improves their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in subsequent Express Entry draws.
Each PT has its own set of PNP streams aligned with Express Entry. Candidates should research and apply to the stream that best suits their qualifications and intentions. Nunavut does not have a PNP, and Quebec’s economic immigration programs operate independently of Express Entry.
Language and Occupation Trends in Express Entry
- French Proficiency: The government’s recent Access to Information Request highlighted the expectation that French proficiency will lead category-based draws throughout 2024. Bilingual candidates tend to have higher employment rates and better overall integration prospects.
- STEM Occupations: STEM professionals received the second-highest ITAs (25%). Their expertise contributes significantly to Canada’s technological advancements and competitiveness.
- Healthcare Occupations: Healthcare-related fields accounted for 15% of all ITAs. The demand for skilled healthcare workers remains strong.
- Transport, Trades, and Agriculture: These categories collectively represented 5% or less of the ITAs issued in category-based draws. While smaller in number, they play essential roles in various sectors of the Canadian economy.
