NSNP Occupations In-Demand stream targets workers with a job offer from an employer in the Nova Scotian province. The job offer must be in a high-demand field. The Occupations in Demand stream is for you if you belong to specific TEER category 3, 4 or 5 occupations of the National Occupational Classification. Note that eligible fields can be changed by the NSNP, which identifies the in-demand jobs based on labour and skills.

Eligibility Requirements for NSNP Occupation in Demand

  • Have a full-time permanent job or a job offer from an employer in the Nova Scotian province in either of the following NOC codes:
    • 33102 (Nurse Aides)
    • 65200 (Food and beverage servers)
    • 65201 (Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers, and related support occupations)
    • 65310 (Light duty cleaners)
    • 73300 (Transport truck drivers)
    • 73400 (Heavy equipment operators)
    • 75110 (Construction trades helpers and labourers)
  • Possess one year of work experience in the field of work
  • Be 21 to 55 years old
  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have undergone adequate training, skills, and accreditation for the work
  • Demonstrate your language ability either in English or French equivalent to the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4
  • Demonstrate sufficient financial resources to settle in Nova Scotia effectively

NSNP Occupation in Demand Application Process

The NSNP Occupation in Demand stream applications are accepted 24/7, 365 days, provided you meet all the program requirements. To apply for this program, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the online portal available on the Nova Scotia immigration website.
  2. Fill in all the requisite details and complete your application.
  3. If your application is accepted, you will receive a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Nova Scotia.
  4. Upon nomination, you will receive a Letter of Support making you eligible to apply for a temporary work permit. Hence, you can travel to Nova Scotia to start working.

Important Points

  • Upon reaching a provincial nomination, you will get six months to submit a federal application for Canadian permanent residence.
  • You must fulfill and submit a paper-based application for permanent residency in the province. You will have to mail this paper-based application to the suitable application centre.
  • The permanent residency applications are typically processed within 18 months.
