The PEI PNP Express Entry stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) gives prospective newcomers a chance to get a provincial nomination and to settle in Prince Edward province as a Canadian permanent resident. If you are in the federal Express Entry pool, then you can submit your candidature for permanently living and working in the province of Prince Edward Island. You must have skills and experience according to the current provincial requirements.

Eligibility Requirements for PEI PNP Express Entry Stream

  • Express Entry Profile: You must have an Express Entry Profile.
  • Job Offer: You may not have an existing job offer. The PEI Express Entry stream gives priority to applicants who are presently living and working in PEI. If you have a valid job offer, then you will be assessed on different parameters under the PEI Express Entry Ranking System.
  • Connection to the Province: You may not have an existing connection to the province.
  • Investment: You may not be required to make any investment.
  • Express Entry Requirements: You should meet the Express Entry Requirements for Language Proficiency, Level of Education, and Work Experience.

Express Entry Requirements

If you want to apply to the PEI Express Entry stream of the PEI PNP, you should be officially registered in the federal Express Entry pool. For this, you should fulfil the eligibility requirements of at least one of the following 3 federal Economic programs:

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

  • Education: You should have at least a high school diploma.
  • Work Experience: You should have at least 1 year of continuous full-time work experience in a skilled field. The work experience should be equal to National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • Language Proficiency: You should prove your language proficiency in English or French according to the standards of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • Education: There is no minimum education requirement.
  • Work Experience: You should have at least 1 year of full-time work experience in a skilled field. It may not be continuous but must have been acquired within 3 years before the application. The work experience should be at a level equal to National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • Language Proficiency: You should prove your language proficiency in English or French according to the standards of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 for work experience acquired at NOC Skill Level 0 or A, and CLB level 5 for work experience acquired at NOC Skill Level B.

Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

  • Education: There is no minimum education requirement.
  • Work Experience: You should have at least 2 years of work experience in a skilled field.
  • Job Offer or Certificate: You should have an employment offer in a skill trade in Canada or a qualification certificate in a particular skill trade. A Canadian authority must have issued the certificate.
  • Language Proficiency: You should prove your language proficiency in English or French at CLB Level 5 for speaking and listening and CLB 4 for reading and writing.

Application Process for PEI PNP Express Entry Stream

You should follow the below steps to apply under The PEI PNP Express Entry stream:

  • Submit Your Profile: Submit your profile to PEI’s pool of candidates. You will be ranked against other candidates based on the PEI Express Entry Ranking System.
  • Invitation to Apply: If you are among the highest-ranking candidates, you will be invited to submit a complete application for participation in one of the category’s periodic draws. Please note that the Express Entry profile, pool, and ranking system are completely different from the PEI PNP Express Entry profile, pool, and ranking system.
  • Provincial Nomination: If you are successful, you will receive the provincial nomination on your IRCC online account. Make sure to accept it.
  • Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score: Once you successfully accept the provincial nomination, you will see a rise of 600 points in your CRS score. This is a virtual guarantee that you will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence, which will be finalized in the next Express Entry draw.
  • Apply for Permanent Residency: If you have received an ITA, then you need to immediately prepare and submit an official application for permanent residency in Canada. Make sure to submit this within the stipulated time.

Note: It usually takes six months to process a permanent residence application submitted through Express Entry.
