Who Can Apply?

- Candidates with a legal status in Canada as residents.
To be eligible for the NSNP Labour Market Priorities for Physicians stream, you must meet the following criteria:
- Letter of Interest: You must receive a Letter of Interest in your Express Entry profile from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI).
- Application Timeline: You must apply within 30 days of the Letter of Interest’s issuance date.
- Job Approval Letter: You must have a Job Approval Letter from the Nova Scotia Health Authority or IWK Health Centre as a general practitioner, family physician, or specialized physician.
- Work Experience: You must prove your job experience mentioned in the Express Entry program.
- Service Agreement: The Return for Service Agreement signed with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness testifies to a two-year service commitment in the province.
- Education: You must provide proof of your education or evidence of foreign educational credentials and a copy of the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) issued by the Medical Council of Canada.
- Reference Letter: A letter of reference is mandatory. It should be written on the company’s letterhead, attested by HR, supervisor, or senior manager. It should include details such as employment history, annual salary, responsibilities, and number of hours per week.
- Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 7 in either English or French. Acceptable language tests include IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, TEF, and TCF.
- Settlement Funds: You must show proof of sufficient settlement funds in your name. According to the federal government guidelines, you must have a minimum of $12,669 CAD plus approximately $3,414 CAD for each family member.
Important Note: The recommended amount will be reduced if you already reside in Nova Scotia with an arranged employment.

Here are the steps to apply for the NSNP Labour Market Priorities for Physicians stream:
Stage 1: Notify NSOI of Express Entry Profile
Once you have created your Express Entry profile, you need to send your profile number to NSOI.
Stage 2: Apply to NSNP under the Labour Market Priorities Stream
After receiving a Letter of Interest (LOI), you will get 30 days to apply to NSNP through Nova Scotia’s official website. You must attach a certified translation if you have some documents in a language other than French or English.
Stage 3: Nomination or Refusal
If your application is approved, you will be issued a nomination certificate from NSOI through the IRCC online account. You will get 30 days to submit your application to IRCC, and if IRCC approves your nomination, they will send you an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
If your application is refused, you will have 10 days to submit any additional information required by the NSOI. This extension is granted on a case-by-case basis. Please note that there is no appeal process if you receive a refusal letter.
